It is with great pleasure that I present the 2010 Houston Remodeling Guide to you. For 11 years this guide has been designed by the professionals at the Greater Houston Builders Association, Remodelors Council and Fort Bend Publishing to be the sole source for homeowners who are looking for information about remodeling their home.
The Houston area Remodelors Council is a nonprofit organization that is known for being the leader among Remodelors Councils in the nation. Our council and its member companies, remodelers and associates are recognized on the local, state and national levels for achieving the highest standards in our industry. They all contribute their time and skills to make our industry a valuable resource for our consumers. Being mentioned as the leader does not go unrecognized.
Some of the great accomplishments the RMC was honored with in 2009 include our charity project Tiny Treasures in conjunction with HomeAid Houston and the Annual Garage Sale that raised more than $15,000 for charity. Also, it is with great honor that the National Certified Graduate Remodeler of the Year has been received by members of the GHBA for five out of the last six years. Congratulations to all recipients and to all those who keep raising the bar!
Each year, through the pages of this guide, we inform homeowners with the latest in consumer information, photos of local projects and valuable resource information. Our member companies welcome the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences with each of you. Whether you are looking for a specialty service provider for that do-it-yourself project or are in need of full service assistance by a professional remodeler, it is my hope that you will benefit from the content and resources this guide has to offer. May your remodeling experience be enjoyable.

Remodeling: a cost-effective way to customize your home
Thank you for choosing the Houston Remodeling Guide as a resource for your remodeling needs. You have made a very wise choice. The members of the Greater Houston Builders Association Remodelors Council are committed to quality and customer service. You should find the right contractors and suppliers for your project within these pages and through the Remodeler’s Council Web site on www.ghba.org. Whomever you choose, always check your contractor’s references.
Founded in 1941, the Greater Houston Builders Association is one of the oldest builders and remodelers associations in the country. The Association represents more than 1,800 member companies and 100,000 employees.  The Association is also active in community and charitable events. Each year members contribute property, materials and labor for the Benefit Homes Project, which is celebrating its 30 Year Anniversary. The majority of the proceeds benefit the Texas Children’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. Almost $6 million has been raised since the program began. The Remodelors Council also sponsors one or more charitable projects each year. The goals of the Association are to further the awareness of the members and communities of the importance of professional business standards, to enhance the business climate for its members, and to provide quality obtainable housing to the communities it serves.
We hope your remodeling experience is a positive one and your project is everything you hoped it would be.
